I had a great time this morning running with two new running friends. These women are faster than I am and they challenged me to push myself, leading to my best practice time yet for 4 miles. I am a testament that when you are ready, this is a great experience. More experienced runners are also a great resource for training information.
My Hal Higdon MCM training schedule begins this Monday! I'll be logging my runs on www.logyourrun.com
Looking forward to your comments and suggestions.

25 years ago I was the top female runner in my high school. I began to run again for the first time last year since I'd never entered an adult race. In 2009 I ran my first two half marathons.
My goal is to successfully complete the Marine Corps Marathon this October 2010. I've come a long way, learned a great deal and have a long way to go. Join me on my journey and that we can inspire each other as we reach our goals. Happy Running! Heidi J Cox

A Marathon? Are We Crazy?
"Of all the races, there is no better stage for heroism than a marathon. "
Dr. George Sheehan taken from Runnersworld.com
Maybe this is why we do it. If we are crazy, there are a lot of us out there! I'll be starting my official training for the marathon in July.
Send me a post if you've done this already and have hints to share or would like to join me as we track our training until race day!
Happy Running!

1 Week Till Race Time
It's one week until the MCM Historic Half. The time has cropped up quickly. It is easy to have these thought in your head: Am I ready? Will it be too hot? Will the hills be terrible? Will I be sore....... Just like anything, after you've done your preparation, the rest is about preparing your mind. With the right mindset, any race will be great. So, here are my thoughts: "I'm ready and it will be a great race. I'm excited and I am ready to tackle the hills. It will be a lot of fun, a great experience and I look forward to all the support on the course from the MCM support team."

"I run because it's so symbolic of life. You have to drive yourself to overcome the obstacles. You might feel that you can't. But then you find your inner strength, and realize you're capable of so much more than you thought. "
