Welcome to Heidi J Cox's Running Blog

Hi Runners New, Old and Aspiring to Be!

Join us as we learn, inspire and have fun in our chosen sport of running. I look forward to your contributions and suggestions.

25 years ago I was the top female runner in my high school. I began to run again for the first time last year since I'd never entered an adult race. In 2009 I ran my first two half marathons.

My goal is to successfully complete the Marine Corps Marathon this October 2010. I've come a long way, learned a great deal and have a long way to go. Join me on my journey and that we can inspire each other as we reach our goals. Happy Running! Heidi J Cox

Carl Lewis on Taking Charge of Your Life

I had the pleasure of seeing Carl Lewis speak this past January at the First Yoli Convention in Las Vegas. Carl's story was very inspirational. As a 9 time Gold Medal Olympian in track and field, he had many obstacles in his life to overcome throughout his career. Through it all, he never gave up and kept focused on his goals.

Carl told us: "A down economy is a time of innovation, a time to take charge of your life. Go build a bridge to a new life and future. This economy is a great climate to take charge and inspire people."  So, as you think about your plans for this weekend and your goals for yourself, personally or professionally, take Carl Lewis' advice and go inspire yourself and others. There is no better time to do it!  Have a great weekend.

  2. Great point Art! Anything you do is great. You should still stretch before you walk and take it slow. Same principles as with the running-set goals, stretch,. start slow and enjoy!
